Women’s Wellness: Regulating your Nervous System

  • Sacred Ally 130 East Broadway Street Missoula, MT, 59802 United States (map)

How often do you find yourself truly at rest, allowing your nervous system to recalibrate?

This event is a continuation of our July Women’s Wellness: Let’s Talk Perimenopause workshop, and we are excited to open it up to everyone, as nervous system regulation is vital for both men and women. Both Ranya and Harmony will share insights and tools on how to calm your nervous system and recognize when you are out of balance and disregulated. This is a unique opportunity to come together and learn in-depth self-care techniques to navigate the demands of our hectic lives.

During this workshop, Ranya Anabtawi, Yoga therapist, mindfulness coach, and Reiki master, will share a short informative section about the parasympathetic nervous system and how it relates to yoga. Her presentation will consist of experiencing a Restorative Yoga pose and guided imagery allowing you to fully immerse yourself in the practice and feel its immediate effects on your nervous system firsthand.

Hannah, a Pelvic Health Physical Therapist will address the ways the nervous system shows up in our daily lives, including posture, pain, and system regulation. She will go through strategies and tangible action items to help you better understand and regulate your nervous system for a higher quality of life.

Perhaps for the first time, you will enter a sanctuary of stillness, inviting your nervous system to find harmony. This easeful space allows you to experience what the Yoga Sutras describe: "Then the Seer (Self) abides in Its own true nature." Here, in moments of stillness, reconnect with your true essence, the Ātman, finding a place of profound rest and recovery, where you can reclaim the serenity that resides within.

What to expect and bring to the workshop:

  • Learn to identify signs of nervous system dysregulation: Understand how your nervous system impacts your posture, pain levels, and daily stress, and discover practical ways to bring it back into balance.

  • Experience a gentle Restorative Yoga pose: This session involves no strenuous movements, so no previous Yoga experience is required. You may choose to bring a yoga mat and a small hand towel or eye pillow to cover your eyes for added comfort.

  • Explore the connection between nervous system health and pelvic floor function: Gain insights into how pelvic floor health is linked to overall system regulation and learn exercises to support both.

Meet Ranya

As a bonus mom of two boys, their energy fuels her understanding of life's delicate dance, infusing her teachings with insight and empathy. She offers expert guidance, pulling from 15 years as a yoga therapist, inviting deep relaxation and tranquility, enabling participants to find peace and balance in both body and mind. Her intuitive approach as a Reiki master allows her to attune to the subtle nuances of the room, channeling sequences and poses that nourish and inspire. Learn to rest deeply and completely, dear one.

Meet Hannah

Dr. Hannah Fouts graduated from the University of Montana Physical Therapy doctoral program in May 2023 and is currently working as a pelvic floor physical therapist at Three Rivers Physical Therapy. She utilizes principles based on neurological function and control every day to help people make positive changes in their daily function and pain levels. The nervous system plays a major role in the general functioning of our musculoskeletal system, but also in how we view and interact with the world around us. Improving your ability to understand and regulate the nervous system can be life-changing, and she is excited to delve deeper into this topic with you!
